“Unlikely Jewish Composers” is a presentation by Maestro Brian Salesky about the music and history of significant Jewish composers who made massive contributions to the golden age of 19th Century French Grand Opera: Jacques Offenbach, Giacomo Meyerbeer, and Fromental Halevy. Light refreshments will be served. This free presentation is made in conjunction with Salesky’s display exhibition of photos and memorabilia about the composers in the Schwarzbart Gallery at the AJCC (February 1 – March 3) and his free-admission “French Opera Jewels” concert with Amadeus Chamber Ensemble at which music by these composers is being featured (March 3 at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 6:30 pm).
